4:33

John Cage’s 4′33″ served as inspiration for the creation of several short theatrical pieces. There are no musical notes in this three-movement composition; like Rauschenberg’s white squares, it is a mirror for the viewer or listener. Its content and meaning are created by the audience as they contemplate the silence. 4′33″ thus inquires about the medium, about music, about listening and about the conventions associated with a musical piece. Each of the invited artists (Zohar Frank, Ornit Mark Eitan, Zmira Lutzky, Yuval Meskin, Ofir Yudelevich, Amos Hetz) was asked to offer his or her interpretation for Cage’s original ideas and for their relationship with the contemporary art world.
